Tuesday January 25th
I have been under going chemo treatments. I was told in March of 2010 that I had cancer. I went through 3 out patient chemo treatments. On June 29th I was visiting a friend when I noticed my speech wasn't like it should be. My dog and I rode my motorcycle home. Then I was going to have some watermelon when I noticed I couldn't even hold a fork in my right hand. I had no idea what was going on. Went to bed that thinking everything would be alright. Got up the next morning and went out and mowed my yard. I knew something wasn't still right. I then called my cancer Dr. and he told me to go the emergency room at the hospital. I learned that I had a small stroke and they admitted me for obersavion. Then on July 2, 2010 the nurse came in and woke me up to read some words. I couldn't tell her what they were. I then knew I had another stroke. I had another chemo treatment later in July. The Dr. then told me that would be my last chemo treatment. I was to see my Dr. again in 3 months, but after about 6 weeks my back starting hurting. Called the Dr. and he sent me for a cat scan. I learned that my cancer had returned and I would have to start doing in patient chemo treatments 5 days at a time. I had 6 treatment and I am feeling good right now. They took a piece of my bone and sent it to Iowa City to see if I could donate my own bone marrow. No cancer in my bones so I will be donating my own bone marrow. Went to Iowa City on Tuesday Janurary 18th so they could take some stem cells out of me. They got enough after 1 treatment. I came home for the weekend was to report back Janurary 25th. So now I am waiting for Iowa City to call me back to start my bone marrow transplant. They said they had a bunch of lukemia paitents come in over the weekend. So now it is a waiting game. I will keep you informed here and facebook on how the treatment is coming along. If I can't update my blog my friend Mary Bradish will update it for me.
